Dr. Jim Ellwood

Biography

Dr. Ellwood is a board-certified anesthesiologist with over 35 years of experience providing hospital-based, ambulatory, and office-based anesthesia. He has dealt with drug-resistant depression for most of his adult life.

Working with several psychiatrists and therapists and trying multiple medications over the years, he was able to find temporary relief, but the fog of depression would ultimately descend again. Becoming curious about the use of ketamine in the treatment of depression, he investigated the science and efficacy of ketamine therapy. His own experience with the use of ketamine as an anesthetic agent led him to consider trying it, but only in an environment monitored by a medical staff of physicians and nurses.

Keta Medical was the place he was looking for. There he found a safe environment and a compassionate skilled staff.

Now several months into ketamine therapy and KAP (ketamine assisted psychotherapy), he is seeing himself in a new light and able to go beyond his old, ingrained beliefs about himself. His psychiatrist (with whom he continues to work) is fascinated by the transformation as well. His hope is that his story and experience with Keta Medical will encourage others to seek help and stay hopeful.
